• NSX Commencement of trading - Tuesday, 5th December 2000

The Stock Exchange of Newcastle Limited (NSX) will reach another milestone in its pursuit of establishing a viable, second securities exchange in Australia , when official trading commences on Tuesday 5th December 2000.

Mr Steven Pritchard, Chairman of the NSX, said "The commencement of trading on the Exchange marks another step towards the establishment of a new capital market to serve the needs of small medium and regionally based businesses."

Listed Companies:

The first companies to trade will be:

• Pegmont Mines Limited (NSXCODE: PMI) - An exploration company operating in the Mount Isa region of north-west Queensland with interests in two advanced stage exploration projects at Pegmont (lead-zinc) and at Mount Kelly (copper-gold) plus explorations areas under application.
  
  
• Winpar Holdings Limited (NSXCODE: WPH) - Investment, share trading and underwriting.

 The NSX will officially trade Monday to Friday from 10.30am until 12.30 pm. CHESS:

The stocks above, although CHESS eligible, are to be traded on the NSX ONLY by a Member Broker of the NSX,  However, shareholders may elect to hold these securities with any CHESS Participant in CHESS.  As a result, CHESS Participants will be required to establish these codes within their back office systems.

NSX delayed price and announcement data will be available from the NSX web site on the menu option "Companies | Delayed Prices"  and "Companies | Announcements".  All information on the NSX website will be delayed by at least 20 minutes.  A real time announcements service is also available.  Email alerts for announcements can be obtained by registering your interest at "Register | Your Interest".  Email users will need to return to the NSX website to retrieve the full announcement.
