As an Australian Market Licence Holder, NSX is able to list the following categories of securities:
Equity Securities
Equity securities refer to the shares issued by Companies to investors. Common types of equity securities include Fully Paid Ordinary shares, Partly Paid Shares and Company Options. Specific classes of ordinary shares can be listed that may have different rights attached to them such as entitlement to vote or participate in dividend distributions by the Company. Where rights differ to ordinary fully paid shares then a separate class of shares is created by the Company and that class may be listed.
Debt Securities
Debt securities are issued securities that have a right to participate in interest payments on a regular basis. Known as coupon payments, the interest payments typically can be paid either six-monthly or on an annual basis. Sometimes interest payments are paid more often depending on the terms of the debt issue that are described in the Disclosure Document for the security. Common types of debt instruments that can be listed on NSX include preference shares, convertible notes, Commonwealth Government Securities and Corporate debt such as debentures. It is important to note that Debt securities have no voting rights.
Managed Investment Schemes
Managed Investment Schemes (MIS) will issue Units in the scheme to investors rather than shares. MIS are run by a Responsible Entity who is responsible for the management of the scheme including payment of income distributions to unit holders and fulfillment of reporting requirements to unit holders. Common types of MIS that are listed are property trusts and mortgage trusts.
