The Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) has commenced a review of the JORC Code. The revision has been deemed desirable because of the substantial developments which have occurred overseas since the last JORC Code revision, with South Africa, Canada, United States and UK/Western Europe all releasing revised reporting codes since 1999. All of these documents have been based on the 1999 JORC Code, and some include clauses which may be an improvement on the JORC Code. In addition, we believe that there are sections of the 1999 JORC Code, in particular those relating to reporting at the "pre-resource" stage and to the conversion from Mineral Resources to Ore Reserves, which could be improved in the light of comments received by JORC since release of the September 1999 version. Thus the committee now issues a public call for submissions for review of the JORC Code. The committee would particularly welcome submissions addressing the matters listed above, but submissions on any matter related to the Code would be welcome. Submissions should follow the format outlined below and be forwarded to the JORC Secretary by e-mail to info@jorc.org or to secjorc@gil.com.au or by fax to (07) 3279 1565 or to the Secretary’s postal address listed above. The committee would greatly appreciate submissions if they were in the following format (see attachment below). These submissions should be received no later than the 1st of March, 2002.
